Mission

The Retail Designer designs, structures, and deploys high-performing retail spaces that embody the Decathlon brand and maximize the customer experience.

They operate in a dual role as:

  • an upstream and innovative designer (concept development, trend monitoring, storytelling, technologies), and

  • a results-driven, operational designer (in-store deployment, performance, ROI).

The role covers the full lifecycle from concept → prototyping → deployment → continuous improvement.

Responsibility 1 – Retail Concept & Innovation

Design innovative retail space concepts (storyboards, scenography, customer journeys).

Feed the concept strategy through continuous monitoring of design, retail trends, and customer behaviors.

Explore and test 3D / VR / AI tools, materials, and emerging retail solutions.

Integrate sustainability from the earliest design stages (reuse, frugality, CO₂ impact).

Responsibility 2 – Co-creation of the Customer Experience

Co-create retail experiences and layouts with Design, Merchandising, CX, and Offer teams.

Adapt central concepts into solutions tailored to the Canadian market.

Produce and maintain 3D assets, libraries, plans, A4 documents, and guidelines.

Ensure adherence to brand identity, price promise, and product technicality.

Work with project teams to define and measure the economic impact of developed solutions.

Responsibility 3 – Deployment & Project Management

Lead retail design projects from conception to in-store implementation.

Support store openings, modernizations, and pilot projects (including small formats).

Ensure delivery timelines, cost control, quality, and performance of implemented solutions.

Guarantee compliant execution through My Efficiency and country standards.

Contribute to the industrialization and scaling of validated solutions.

Profile

We are looking for a Retail Experience Designer who can create innovative retail concepts and turn them into high-performing in-store spaces, combining strong design culture, business mindset, and operational excellence.

Key profile attributes:

  • Strong retail and spatial design culture (space, scenography, customer journey).

  • Ability to work end-to-end, from concept development to in-store deployment.

  • Strong sensitivity to commercial performance (sales per m², ROI, efficiency).

  • Proficiency with 3D design tools and rapid prototyping.

  • Comfortable working in cross-functional and operational environments.

  • High attention to detail, pragmatism, and results-driven mindset.

  • Strong interest in customer experience and useful innovation.
