PRIVACY POLICY

Last update September 9, 2019

1. General

The purpose of this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) is to formalize the commitment of Decathlon Canada Inc. to protecting personal information and to inform you of the types of personal information that Decathlon collects, uses and discloses, in particular in connection with operation of the “JOIN US” recruitment website.

The Privacy Policy applies to any user of the website (the “User” or “You”) that is accessible from the URL https://joinus.decathlon.ca/fr_CA (the “Website”) and is operated by Decathlon.

By completing the form on this site, you consent to the processing of your personal information and authorize Decathlon to collect and process personal information about you in its database: your surname, given names, home address, phone number, education, work experience, degrees, awards, interview summaries, etc., and, more generally, any information and personal data that you communicate spontaneously in connection with your application.

2. Scope of the Privacy Policy

The Policy applies to all personal information about you that we collect or receive from any source.

“Personal information” is information about a natural person that identifies an individual. This information includes your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address and information that you have submitted (e.g., resume, cover letter) that is required for analysis of your application by Decathlon.

3. Collection of Personal Information

In most cases, we collect Personal Information directly from you when you:
create a profile on the Website
respond to an employment opportunity
add your resume to your profile
add a cover letter to your profile
connect to our Website from your LinkedIn account
contact our staff by email and
in general, when you use our Website.

Decathlon informs you that it may also add information about you to your profile that may include information collected (i) during its interactions with you, whether in writing, by telephone or at physical interviews, and (ii) from professional social networks or from any public information source, when such information is relevant to the management of your application.

That information is subject to computer processing for the purpose of managing your application. Your data may also be included in a library of resumes that will enable Decathlon to inform you of other opportunities, where applicable.

To facilitate internal and external recruitment, Decathlon uses the DigitalRecruiters software published by BANKESS to disseminate information about employment opportunities and to collect and manage applications.

Given its ultimate purpose, which is to process the personal data of applicants who apply for positions and to include candidates’ data in the Decathlon’s library of resumes, processing of your personal data is required in order for Decathlon to pursue its legitimate interests: managing its recruitment processes and carrying out pre-contract measures that may exist between Decathlon and applicants for employment opportunities.

This data is hosted in France and will be transmitted to the persons responsible for recruitment at Decathlon so that they can study your application.

Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory and failure to enter a response may interfere with the processing  of your application. Other fields are optional and will have no effect on consideration of your application.

4. Objectives of the collection and use of Personal Information

Except in accordance with the Policy and to the extent that the law permits or requires, Decathlon does not collect, use or share Personal Information without prior consent. Consent may be express, if it is given through specific words or acts, or implied, if it can be deduced from the conduct of the person whose Personal Information is collected, used or shared.

In general, we use your Personal Information for the following purposes:
processing your application
responding to your requests and questions
analyzing your answers and your profile for recruiting purposes
providing information about employment opportunities that match your profile or career goals
5. Retention and location of records containing Personal Information

The personal data of external applicants will be kept for a maximum of 24 months after the last contact with our recruitment department, “last contact” being understood to be the date on which you consented to your data being collected. For internal applicants, personal data is kept for as long as the employee is with the company.
We inform you that your personal data is computerized and processed confidentially, and guarantees of security and confidentiality have been given to preserve personal data put online.

As a subcontractor of Decathlon, BANKESS is authorized to access your personal information when necessary, including in connection with the tasks of administering and maintaining the website and the applications management tool, but may not disclose that data.
6. Accuracy and voluntary correction of Personal Information

By communicating your Personal Information, you declare that it is accurate and that you are not assuming the identity of another person. You may change the Personal Information in your profile at any time.

7. Request for access, rectification or deletion of Personal Information

You may contact us at any time to access, rectify or delete all or part of your Personal Information. You must make this request in writing and provide proof of your identity. In that case, any information provided for the purpose of identifying you will be used solely for that purpose.

We undertake to respond to you within 30 calendar days.

8. Communications

You may decide to stop receiving electronic communications from Decathlon by unsubscribing, using the mechanism provided in those communications, or by sending a written request by email.

9. Access and transfer of Personal Information to other third parties

Unless you consent, and except where permitted or required by law, Decathlon does not disclose, sell or rent your Personal Information to other third parties.

In the very specific case of negotiations relating to the sale of all or part of Decathlon’s business to a third party, you agree that we may authorize access to your Personal Information by the potential purchaser. In addition, and if the sale is successful, you also authorize Decathlon to transfer your Personal Information to the purchaser.
